Digital fonts are fonts that emulate the look of characters as they would appear on a digital device like a calculator. They are characterized by the scalable outline letterforms. They are generally connect with any computer or code related fonts.

Digital fonts may also refer to a computer data format. These are classified under three categories that are Vector, Bitmap and Stroke fonts.

Vector fonts are generally faster and much easier to use with vector based software as these use mathematical formula to give instructions for any scaling and resizing that has to be done. They are also known as Outline fonts. Some vector softwares are Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw.

Bitmap fonts actually stores data as a grid of pixels and it is by far the most common format that is used with desktop publishing softwares like Microsoft office word and star office.

Stroke fonts use a series of specified lines and additional information to define the character and size and shape of the line in a specific typeface, which together describe the appearance of the image of the font.

Fonts that are not for printing but are restricted to the computer screen are known as screen fonts.
